Have you ever gone outside at night and looked at the sky? I don’t mean just glance up and notice a few stars and the moon and then quit. I mean have you ever REALLY looked at the night sky? A few times each week, I go on a walk around my neighborhood, and I always go in the evening right after it has gotten dark. This is partly to stay in shape, partly to get rid of some energy before I start getting ready for bed, and partly because it really gives me the chance to look at the night sky, and in doing so, to look at God. I have heard many Christians tell me why they love the stars and how it leads them to worship, and tonight, I want to share my own reason for finding them so absolutely amazing!
Lord, I have no words.
When I think about your grace in my life,
When I face all my failures,
All the times I let you down,
What that means,
How you saw me,
How I hurt you,
How you loved me,
How I loved the world,
How I loved it more than you-
What can I say to make that right?
I have no words.

“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.” –I Thessalonians 5:14 NKJV
As I was reading this verse last night, I was especially interested in the “uphold the weak” portion. What does that mean? Who are the weak? How do we uphold them? Here is my take on the matter:
You are my Jehovah Jireh!
The Lord, my God, my soul provider!
You see my needs before they come!
You fill my cup to over run!
All I need, You freely give!
You are all I need to live!
Lord, Speak to me when I hunger for you,
When my soul is in pain and it longs for your truth.
Speak when each word feels exciting and new.
Speak to me.
Father, speak to me when I’m mad at your ways,
When I don’t understand and I turn from your face.
Feed me your wisdom when I can’t stand the taste.
Speak to me.
